"Is there anything I shouldn't do after my adjustment?"

It's a question I am frequently asked, and if you are familiar with my practice or my blog, you likely already know my answer!

No, there really isn't anything that you should inherently avoid after getting adjusted!

However, if you listen for it, your own inner brilliance will guide you to what would (and what would not) serve you best. You are unique, and so is your healing process! It just might be that breakdancing after getting adjusted could be the perfect thing to support one person's process, and could cause total overload for another. But the same thing is true of a nap, or a glass of wine, or a walk, or a yoga class, or going to a movie, etc! There isn't a script for health; we don't come with a road map or an owner's manual.

By now, most of us have figured out some of the things that help us to process and integrate the stuff of life, and also how to get re-centered within ourselves. And yet, in any moment, what we need could be different. The way to know what's right for you is to listen to that voice inside, your "intuition", or as I like to call it, your "inner brilliance".

If you can't hear it, try doing one of the things that have worked in the past to help you get reconnected. If that doesn't do it, or the voice is faint, that is a great time to come in for an adjustment. By optimizing your system, getting reconnected to your self, and clearing your connection with your inner brilliance, you will be able to take the best possible care of yourself.

Your frequency of care is always up to you, and always based on your goals. Whether you choose to come in quarterly, monthly, or weekly is often based on how much you've got "on your plate". But, it's always up to you to decide how often to optimize your system and your connection with your inner brilliance! I look forward to seeing you when the time is right!

I am pretty young and I am already having back problems. I use a chiropractor from Leawood ks. I really like going to him he has helped me get rid of almost all of my back pains.

I've been looking into Seattle chiropractic and this has helped me learn a lot. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for this information. I am looking for a good chiropractor in Denver. Can you recommend any? Thanks.

Thanks for this blog I really enjoyed it. It helped know what to look for when looking for a chiropractor in Scarborough.

Chiropractic is safe, natural, effective and has no “down time.” Many people turn to <a href="http://www.downtownseattlechiropractic.com/”>chiropractors in Seattle</a> for all of the health and wellness concerns.

Good question and good article. Its important to avoid anything that may aggrevate the current condition after an adjustment. So, don't go play 18 holes of golf after the treatment. Instead, talk to your chiropractor, and see when returning to any exercise is right for you.

I find it funny to see what some people decide to do. It really surprises me a lot of times. I have heard some similar things from my chiropractor in Geneva, IL.

Thanks fot eh advice. I know my friend's chiropractor in Geneva IL really helps him, but you also have to continue to do things while your at home.

Thanks for the advice! I have been needing to go to the chiropractor. This will help.

I remember the time when I needed to get chiropractic care services when I got in that wreck. It was really crazy how much that wreck messed up my back. It was a lot of work, but it was well worth it in the end. I have came a long way from that day and now I am better then ever before. It is really great to know that they could help me out so much. They were really great at what they are doing and they helped me out a lot.

Stryker Facing Lawsuit Over CerviCore Bait and Switch: Click Here

It turns out that Stryker will be going to court once again. This time it's over its illegal clinical trials of the CerviCore implant that never received IDE from the FDA.

I have never actually gone in to a chiropractor for an adjustment. I have had my back out a few times, but I just live with it until I get it back to where it needs to be. If I were to get adjusted I think that I would take it easy for at least a week before doing things that could mess it up again.

I think that I would benefit from going to see a chiropractor. I have had some neck pain. I have been wondering what I can do to prevent pain after I am adjusted, so thanks for posting this information.

This post was really helpful. I have always wondered about what not to do after being adjusted by a chiropractor. It is really important to maintain the adjustment.

What a great post about adjustments! I got one last week, and I wouldn't try dancing. That was a great photo. http://www.qualitylifemn.com/index.php?p=183319

This is good to know. I'm going to be visiting a chiropractor soon. I want to know if there is anything I should do to make sure my spine stays in alignment. I want it to feel good for as long as possible afterwards.

That is really good to know that there aren't a lot of guidelines for things that you shouldn't do after getting adjusted. I have been needing to go to the chiropractor for a couple of months recently, and don't know why I haven't done it yet. My lower back has been killing me ever since I carried all of those heavy boxes when we moved. http://www.maukmedical.com

I wouldn't go out break dancing the day after getting my back adjusted. I think like any injury you should give it time to heal. It's been a really long time since I've seen a chiropractor, but I think that I'm going to need to see one again soon. My back has been killing me. http://www.yaegerchiropractic.com

Everyone's healing process is completely different. It is funny that you get asked that so often. I would suggest just use best judgement. If your body starts saying it isn't happy, then stop what you are doing. Simply put.

I love getting my back adjusted. I think it is great that after there is really nothing that I can't do. There is no recovery time or down time, but I feel so much better. Thanks for sharing this information! http://www.chghealth.com/services/chiropractic

This is a really common question I think. I guess it boils down to common sense. Don't do anything after your adjustment that caused the need for the adjustment in the first place. Like you said though, the frequency of your visits depends on your activity level and what your goals are.

This is a question that I had when I went in and visited a chiropractor when I was a teenager. I had fallen off a trampoline and tweaked my back. I went in and he worked on my back for a little while, and told me not to do any heavy lifting for a few days. Well, my job involved 100% heavy lifting at the time, so I decided to go to work anyways. I have never been more pain than that time. It's important to listen to your chiropractor. http://www.robertnelsonchiropractic.com

Thank you for answering this question. I am getting my first chiropractic treatment next week. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to go camping this weekend. It will be my last chance before winter arrives.

I've been thinking of visiting a chiropractor for a little while now to help out with some pain that I've been dealing with. I really like the point that you made about how the healing process is different for everyone, and what may work for someone may be the exact opposite of what another person may need. Finding out what does and doesn't work for me after I get an appointment should be quite an interesting experience.

This picture looks like something my grandpa would do. He gets chiropractic treatment fairly frequently. Right after, though, he'll go jump on his trampoline or go boating or something. I'm sure that really messes with all the chiropractic work that just got done. http://www.tinleychiro.com/Chiropractic/

I asked my old chiropractor about what I should do after adjustments, like this article talks about, and he said I shouldn't fall on my back after being adjusted. Also, anything associated with hurting my back is something I should avoid. I think I need to find another chiropractor because I haven't seen one in a while. http://www.optimumchiropracticvictoria.ca/en/about_us.html

It seems really important to take it easy after a chiropractic adjustment. I don't think that it would be a good idea to do any crazy twisting motions after going to the chiropractor. It's important to ease up and just let your back heal.

I frequently visit the chiropractor, I have for years now. I never really thought about this, but it makes sense now. I was always really careful on my back after each adjustment. http://www.peoriachiropracticacupuncture.com/

I have been having some back problems for a while now. I hurt it last week while moving a couch. Everytime I twist to either side, I get a sharp pain in the middle of my back. I think that I should go see a chiropractor to see if they would be able to help me out. http://www.drniss.com/

I was always delicate with my self after my adjustments just for the fear having something go wrong. But after reading this article I am much more informed and now know that adjustments require not extra care according to the article.

I am a big fan of biking and have always wondered about how to handle riding after an adjustment. Thanks you for the tips! I like how you pointed out that it really just depends on how often you want to return to the office. I thought that was kind of funny! http://www.healthnowmedical.com/services/chiropractic-doctor

I have been having some problems with my back. I have been thinking about going to a chiropractor to have him do some work on it. I have never been before, so I am researching more about it. I am mostly curious what you do after you go to the chiropractor. Is there anything specific that you should do after?

I have a terrible back, and it causes me lots of pain. Chiropractor visits are what get me through the day. I love knowing that once I walk out of there, I will be pain free. Well, that is, pain free for a little while.

I used to dance all the time. I got hurt a lot, but my back took a major toll. It's years since I have stepped on stage, but my back continues to ache. I have tried lots of things, and I think it's time to try something new. I think that a chiropractor would really help. I would love to have my back reclined.

I would have thought that there were a lot of things that you should avoid doing after your adjustment. It is really cool to know that having an adjustment doesn't hold you back from anything. It is really important though to listen to your own body. You don't want to push yourself harder than you have strength for.

After getting adjusted, I would try my hardest to keep my body aligned for as long as possible and trying not to provoke bad posture. If you go back to doing what you used to do, it could put your body back into the same position it was before you went in. I would just be careful with what you do. http://www.irondequoitchiropracticcenter.com/services

I've always wondered if there were things that could do extra damage after getting an adjustment. I guess it's really good to know that there really isn't anything like that. It could make things much easier to figure out when you really think about it. I think it's important to make sure that you do something to stay in good position. Beyond that, we should be able to live fairly normal lives.

That's really great to know that there really isn't anything that you should avoid after an adjustment. I am going to go rock climbing with a couple of my friends in a few days. I have been having a lot of back pain, and I would love to get an adjustment before then. It's great to know that I'll still be able to go rock climbing after my adjustment. http://www.spchiro.com/Chiropractic-Services-Prairie-du-Sac-WI.html

I was talking to a friend of mine, and back pain came up. I said something about how my back has been bothering me, and she suggested I go see a chiropractor. After a little research, I am thinking that is a great idea! There are a lot of things I avoid doing because my back, so it would be nice to have it adjusted.

After an adjustment, I like to keep things simple. I try not to do too much and I slowly start to keep back into stretches. After one week I usually just go back to the gym. It hasn't failed me yet so maybe it will work for other people. http://www.redrockchiropracticofrapid.com/What_is.html
